Vermont Licensed Universal Preschool Program
The Creative Preschool is rated with 5 STARS through the Vermont Step Ahead Recognition System, is a prequalified preschool program under Vermont’s Act 166 and is recognized as a Specialized Care provider. The Preschool program is located below the Rosa B. Tyson Gymnasium across from the Newton School.
The Creative Preschool offers programming Monday-Friday mornings from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. We also have an optional afternoon program for three to five-year-olds from 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Fridays (aligned with the Newton School calendar). We limit our enrollment to 18 children at any given time.
We offer curriculum that is guided by the Vermont Early Learning Standards, and is play-based and child led. We create intricate provocations and learning opportunities that promote positive dispositions to learning, and invoke deeper thinking and skill building. We value our ample time outdoors, in all seasons and weather, to learn about each other, the world around us, and ourselves.
Toddler Program
Butterflies
Our Toddler program enrolls no more than five children at any given time, all between the ages of two and three. We prioritize creating a calm, safe environment, that allows us to meet each child’s individual needs as they arise. We use documentation and observation to create provocations that encourage further learning and skill building. We promote movement, social-emotional skill building, and appreciating nature while exploring our community. We offer a play based environment that is tailored to each child’s developmental needs and interests.
We enjoy baking, taking walks around the Upper Village, making music with our local music teacher, and visiting the Morrill Memorial and Harris Library for an interactive story hour.
This program is held at the Creative Nursery location in the Upper Village. We offer care during the hours of 7:45-3:30, Monday through Friday, with the option for half-day 12:00pm pick-up.
Infant Program
Caterpillars
Our Infant program serves four children from six weeks old, until they are ready to enter the toddler program. Each child receives quality, individualized care, where rest and comfort are considered essential to proper growth and development.
We enjoy frequent walks around the Upper Village, time on our playground, and visits with the toddlers when appropriate. We offer material and activities for each age level and developmental stage.
We recognize that all children reach milestones at different rates. To meet each child where they are at, instead of where they are expected to be, we prioritize observation and assessment to create an environment that will promote optimal growth and overall well-being.
